The Birds
I went to Whyalla for a meeting yesterday. This means that I have to travel through Iron Knob. A once thriving community, but now little more than a ghost town. There are a few people still living there and there is a pub, but not much else. There is a sign in Iron Knob, warning people of Emus crossing the road. Never seen them. I thought it was a bit of a joke until yesterday, when I saw these guys on the side of the road.

They look pretty young. Altogether, there were 5 of them in the area. The best thing about Emus is that the female lays the eggs and then nicks off and leaves the babies to the males…
A bit further down the road there were some Wedge Tailed Eagles riding the thermals and then there were these two, just taking their time…

And then they were gone.

WHAT kind of Soup?
I figured that before I get onto the boring tourist type blog of my journey around Singapore, I would thrill you with some of the more bizarre things that I saw / did while there.
We were on our way home from Sentosa Island and we hadn’t eaten any real food since breakfast. We went to the food court in VivoCity (the biggest food court that I had ever seen. Even with all the food that was on offer, we eventually chickened out and ended up getting Burger King). Anyway, while doing the rounds of the food court, I came upon this classy establishment.

That’s right people - it says Pig’s Organ Soup. I checked out the menu to see if it would give a clue as to which organ. They list such delights as
* Pigs Liver and Kidney Soup
* Pigs Stomach Soup
* Braised Pigs Trotter
* Pigs Ball Soup as well as
* Pig’s Organ Soup.
The pictures on the menu offer no hints as to which bit of the pig is in the soup. I’ll leave that to your imagination.
This post was especially for Magnetoboldtoo who seems to appreciate these type of things. I hope it cheered you up and made you wee just a bit…..
We Apologise for the Technical Difficulties
Our hotel is really beautiful. We scored an executive suite on the executive floor - which gave us all sorts of extras including free drinks (beer, wine, juice) in the bar from 6.30am - 11pm and free spirits from 6-7pm. We also get to use the spa/gym, the pool and the lounge free of charge. None of which we have actually had anytime to enjoy or even look like getting close to. We also get free broadband in our room.
It appears though, that our ancient dinosaur laptop doesn’t have a network port. It does have a wireless PCMCIA card which works perfectly well with our wireless broadband at home, but the system here first has to register your computer the old fashioned way by plugging the cable in. So no internet in our room.
We have still been able to get all the photos off the camera etc, but getting them here onto the free computer in the lounge is a bit messy, so my posts have been a bit slack.
We will be returning to normal transmission shortly, in the meantime, please enjoy this pretty test pattern.

Packed
Well, we’re off today. I’m pretty much all packed in our new Bobsy Twins Luggage. I’m usually throwing things in a suitcase at the last minute, so it’s quite strange to be packed 24 hours in advance.
We are heading overseas for our 20th wedding anniversary and leaving the kidlets with my sister in Melbourne for the week. (Lucky her!
)
There will be lots of photos on Flickr for you all to perve at while we’re away, and we might even be able to fit in a bit of geocaching!
